the hotel and catering sector is very popular with new graduates

Good news for the industry. While more and more young people are turning to exchange platforms such as Airbnb to sublet their accommodation while they're away and thus cushion the cost of their holiday, others prefer to turn to the traditional sector for good and start a career in it. Rarely has the start of the 2018 academic year seen so many young graduates turning to the hospitality industry. School leavers and apprentices are often the starting point for these new arrivals, who prefer (or endure?) these apprenticeships.

This enthusiasm confirms a general trend that has been developing positively since 2005. Between that date and 2017, the hotel sector alone has seen a gain of 25% in employment. While male-female parity is virtually unchanged, the average age of hotel sector employees is generally below the average for other sectors.
