Following on from what was done for air fares during 2015, a law aimed at "increasing the legibility of prices" came into force from 1 July 2016.
Hoteliers and the major OTAs will be required to display the total price for the period selected by the traveller at the time of booking, both on commissioned booking platforms and via the "traditional" booking modules set up directly on hotel websites, such as Reservit. Until now, "additional costs" could be added to the total bill, confusing the customer and acting as a natural brake on the potential customer's final conversion.
All optional extras, such as extra breakfast and use of Wi-Fi, will have to be clearly mentioned in a separate price list. Hoteliers will have until 1 June 2016 to update their prices on their website.
